That's are great goverment at work!!!
Don't they have better thing to do with our money????????????
It's about time! The question is:
Why are we just talking about drugs and baseball? How about football? Have you seen how big and strong those guys are? Some of them look like they take showers in steroids! Is anybody doing any kind of test on them?
I really dont like Bonds what goes around comes around, but I donot think he needs to go to jail. Strip him of his homerun record, do not let him in the Hall of Fame, and bann him from baseball. That is justice at work. Putting him in Jail just means I have to pay for it.
I am highly dissapointed but not shocked, I am a 43 yr old resident of san mateo county and grew up with BB and Greg since they were kids.I have competed against BB since 8th grade and that includes High School. He has always had the ability to hit homeruns, and that includes him hitting them in American Legion at 17 yrs old with wooden bats when most kids could barely hit them out with Aluminum Bats
I have known BB and Greg since we were 12 and have shared many fun times with BB.
I have never seen any athlete have the ability to do what he did in football, basketball,Golf or Baseball.
Regardless if he did this, Major League Baseball needs to be held accountable for hiding it under the rug, because they could always sell tickets when BB was in the stands. They paid him alot of money to fill seats, and Steroids helped him recover quickly to be able to get on the field on a everyday basis. MLB wanted that to happen,so they closed their eyes to not only Barry but others.
Barry's only fault was he did not tell the truth when he had his moment of truth.
I stand by him as a person, and a great athlete.
instead of going after the best player and most loved by bay area fans they should use the taxpayers money to help the homeless and or the millions of hungry families in our country put our money to good use and leave Barry alone I still love him as a player and I always will because I really am a true fan and to me Barry does not need steroids to be the best.the goverment should dedicate its time to stop the war and leave Barry alone........
Given the state of our Federal Government, arguably the most corrupt in the history of our Country, I find it absurd they are focusing on a baseball player when higher ups in this administration lie to us on a daily basis. This is not even in contention, Bush and his administration lied about the reasons to go to war and frankly I'm far more concerned about lying in our government than whether Barry Bonds lied about taking steroids.
I personally don't care much for Bonds, but lying about taking steriods IS NOT A CRIME - so what if itwas to the Grand Jury - I believe that what BUSH, CHENEY and the OIL COMPANIES are doing to the public is a CRIME!!!!!!
I don't think they have been too hard on Bonds here. The original motivation was to end the use of dangerous and illegal drugs, which is a worthy goal. Bonds is not in trouble for this, but for allegations of perjury and obstruction of justice. These have always been considered serious crimes, often more serious than the crimes which led up to them, because they strike at the heart of the justice system itself. If there is evidence of perjury and obstruction of justice, then it should definitely be prosecuted, no matter who is accused. Our legal system applies to all.

GOOD...I think this is a great...he is an arrogant steroid-pumping jerk, who is finally getting what he deserves, I hope he spends years behind bars. He is one of the most hated people in baseball, even in the bay area. Maybe if he didn't act like a jerk & admitted what he did was wrong, then maybe some people will finally like him.??
Bonds should NEVER be allowed in the hall of fame....it is not called the hall of shame.
Hank Aaron holds teh record...NOT Barry Steroid Bonds.
to: Bill Ramirez.
Lying to a Grand jury is a crime.
Taking Steroids is a crime.
Taking steroids in baseball or any sport is shameful.
Bill...are you serious ? you better hope that you NEVER go before a grand jury & lie...or you will end up married to a guy named Bubba in prison.
ha ha
I heard Gary meniton about Barry & Pete in the same sentence. Let me ask you "Who did the most damage to those involve or follow baseball and who is going to the hall of fame?" The cheater in baseball or the bettor of the Cincinnati Reds?

We all know whats going on, the death of Johnny C.. The it is opne seaon on the hard working Black Americans. I all about the money and not allowing the gifted BLACK AMERTCANS athelets to grow their records like a white American like Bret Farr. Ever since O.J. was proven not guilty. The raceist white Americans have intensified the covert racism programs, supported by Those people who saw nothing wrong with a Civial Court ruling agnist O.J. The firts were a proven inisent man was then made guilty, because White american majority did not get its lynching. Its not coincidental That Vic,O.J., Bonds have these troubles. By the way Bonds did not lie.is it so unconcievable
the Bonds was gullable enough to trust his White freinds. When they said this alright its just Flackseed oil??
Bringing Race into it are we ? What a freakin' loser you are !!
What a fool...a fool who can't even spell. Are you in 3rd grade ?
Shouldn't you be at least 18 to make a comment ? or you should have an IQ of over 80 at least...do you know what a IQ number is ? I doubt it ??
It makes normal blacks ashamed to be black when you read idiots like this guy, who posted anonymously.
That posting must have been a joke ...NOBODY is that stupid !!
If Berry Bonds said he did not knowingly take steriods, then I think he was telling the truth.
I want the two media guys that published the book with information that they stole to be prosecuted. If the media does not like someone then they keep it in the news and pretty soon people start believing the lie.
He lied to the feds...there's no way around it, that's a crime that will land you in jail.
Don't like that? Run for Congress and change the law. Don't gripe about how they targeted Bonds.
He lied.
I think our government could make better use of our money. Go after some of those criminals in the white house. Leave Barry alone. It's his body and he can do whatever the hell he wants to it. Stop using him as a scapegoat for all the other athlets that take steriods.
A BB Fan Always
What a waste of our tax dollars...we have gang murders in Oakland and young girls sold in to slavery in San Francisco. These are the issues the government should be focussed on.
99 problems....
But a Pitch ain't one!
Unleash the Bonds!
Wow.
I am appalled at the ignorance and uneducated remarks that are being made about the greatest baseball player in history.
I find it quite odd that the Feds all of a sudden have "evidence" and all of a sudden indict him. I think they are trying to clear the name of baseball by pinning it on Barry.
There is no proof that he took performance enhancing drugs so I think people should just drop the subject.
Steroids is not going to make you see the ball better, swing the bat better, or time the ball better. I also find it weird that we have womanizers, racists, and drunks in the hall of fame. Why don't we scrutinize them? Another question is, Why didn't we go after Mark Maguire, Jason Giambi, Jose Canseco, etc. Although Bonds hasn't been the most personable and friendly person to the media, gives us no right to persecute him. This is nothing more than a glorified new age Witch Hunt.
So what if he did lie to the feds. The CIA lied. Look at 911 (who lied about that?)
When Bond's "lied" nobody died. Can't say the same about our current president.
Why did they wait this long. And everybody that have negative comments to say about another human being that makes errors in their lives. Examine your self first. And if this is the case what about all these murders and the drugs selling, smokers (crack)purchases, hookers, and pedafiles that are going on right up under the san francisco pd nose etc. And if that's case also they need to crack down on all the snitches in the baseball field of sports that are doing it also but they will lie of cource and pay the supplier to keep quiet. And a lot people that are speaking up on this are mad that they are not making the money.
Unique 1
And you people call yourselves Giants fans. Go back to LA haters. Hands down Bonds equals the Greatest Player Ever.
The worst thing Barry Bonds could do is listen to Gary Radnich and others who already have him tried and convicted, based on allegations, and no proof, nor Barry admitting to anything. I’m not even a fan of Barry Bonds, and think he should have stayed on the field for the fan party held to celebrate his record breaking Home Run; however that’s a separate issue, and it’s plain to see that the Government is using the tired old Martha Stewart ploy of acquisition of perjury with the hopes that Barry Bonds will now recant what he testified to earlier at the Grand Jury. Barry needs to keep consistent with his earlier Grand Jury statements to the tee, and he’ll be home in time for dinner. If he changes one thing he said previously, than he’ll be getting three hots and a cot for a long long time. Remember… the government and others can think what they want about weather Barry took steroids or not, and I’m not even sure if he did; however proving whether he did or not, is quite another thing. If Barry where taking various legal vitamin regiments while maintaining that he was not aware that he was taking any illegal substances, than it’s game over for the governments case, as it’s weak, weak, weak, weak, weak, to the point of being almost laughable; however it’s humorous to see how the media is buying into the governments trap and treating Barry like he lied when that’s not been proven one iota. No matter how much documentation, appointment, calendar paperwork the government has, it could apply to all the legal substance appointments that Barry and others kept, which would make his Grand Jury testimony sound, unless he were stupid enough to change it for any reason. P.S To Barry; learn some etiquette and treat your fans better, and although this fan is unable to give any legal advice, and none of the above is to be construed as such, your legal team might wish to read this post A.S.A.P. Good Luck …
I think the whole reason behind the indictment is exactly what Gerry mentioned. "He has all the money in the world." and he will pay for years to fight it. Who wins in the end? Lawyers, judges and the courts.
The fact of the matter is if Barry Bonds belongs in a court room or behind bars over steroids so does our Governor.
This country needs to wake up and stop pulling rich black men out for public floggings, while men who are accused of sexual harassment are allowed to take office and just make charges disappear.
I am disgusted - there are many things that are much worse going on in this world that should be addressed. As far as crime, murderers and people committing terrible offenses and Fed. Grand Jury is wasting time worrying about these Bonds accusations. I think it is a huge waste of money at all levels on the wrong issues. There are many more people using hard core street drugs and committing serious crimes on other people. SHAME ON THE GOVERMENT for their priorities are out of order.
It doesn't matter who you are or what you do, wrong is wrong. If he is found to be quilty than he should be punished like anyone else would be.
If his record was made due to the enhancement from drugs, and currently it is a clear offense to use those drugs, then his record does not count for much and he doesn't deserve it.
And he certainly is no role model for all the upcoming players destined for the pros.
We love Barry Bonds!!! Why do they want to keep dragging this in the ground. There is so many many bad things going on in the world, that people with time and money should be focused on. Like the war, housing, the homeless, oil spill, our environment..people are being killed everyday in our own streets for nothing...QUIT wasting our tax payer money, Please focus on the regular guy, just trying to make it.
The Economics of Performance Enhancing Drugs.
The performance enhancing drug trend can be explained by an economics and market structure analysis. Utility is the “satisfying power” of an economic good, performance enhancing drugs. Athletes maximize their utility by using performance enhancing drugs (PED) and fans by purchasing tickets which reinforces athlete’s consumption of drugs. To athletes it’s profitable to consuming PED’s because the opportunity costs of discontinuing use are too great. For example, you can avoid using drugs and likely never acquire fame and high salary, or you can use illicit substances to boost performance and obtain both.
If you detest PED’s you’ve calculated that the marginal benefit of use is less than the marginal costs; suspension, “guilt costs,” and legal action. But these costs don’t deter everyone from participating in illegal activities. Athletes, like consumers, weight the marginal benefit of use to the marginal cost and since the marginal benefit of ‘doping’ exceeds the marginal cost, athletes cheat.
Given the minimal costs associated with testing positive athletes estimate the marginal benefit to exceed the marginal cost. As a simple example, suppose an athlete calculates that the direct and opportunity cost associated with doping in order to obtain a $20 million contract are both zero. He also calculates that his chances of testing positive are 10%, and if he tests positive he will be fined $1 million. Therefore, the athletes calculates that the marginal cost of using is $100,000 (= $1 million x .10). An athlete who has a guilt and health cost of zero will participate in the activity because the marginal benefit exceeds the marginal cost.
The current trend of performance enhancing drug use should be expected in the oligopolistic market structure of sports. In imperfect markets, companies generally participate in collusion and block other prospective entering firms. Since professional athletes inhabit the oligopoly niche you should expect the use of performance enhancing drugs as a means of collusion and blocking to acquire profitable contracts.
This economic analysis has numerous interesting implications. Athletes will continue to use PED’s as long as lucrative contracts exits and the cost are minor. Furthermore, we values PED’s because we allocate our incomes to sporting events, maximizing our utility, and, in doing so, are voting for performance enhancing drugs. Athletes have become the victims of our hypocrisy. We value the end product but are adamant about discouraging the means to the end?
I question the timing - why did it take so long for them to indicte Barry? Why is Barry Bonds the only one being targeted? There are so many in sports using or have used steroids. This is a political move. It is a sad day for me as a baseball fan.
Why does everyone asume Barry is lying about taking steroids. He has to be a great athlete to make it to the majors and he has to be a great athlete to stay in the majors for all those years. If it is no possible for a man to do that well and break all these records without taking drugs. Then we need to look at the orignal record holders Aarron, Mays, Ruth, they must of been on drugs also then, if thats the way everyone thinks.
Look at Jordon while your at it!
Montana Too.
I think it's a big joke. I really don't care if Barry used steriods or not. The joke is that my tax dollars are paying for the investigation. Why can't MLB pay to clean up their own mess. I own a business and if an enployee of mine does steriods, will the Government help me. NO!!! Why did the Government get involved in the first place, they could have wasted the money on something else less important like they always do!!!
First of all, since I am an A's fan I am not a Barry Bonds fan (or Giants fan for that matter)! But I have to say after all this attention and cost to the American taxpayer over a pastime game (really that's all baseball is), when we look at the bigger picture of what is really more pressing in our country which would warrant Federal indictments, is prosecuting one man over something that will be difficult if next to impossible to prove beyond a reasonable doubt to begin with - that Bonds lied "knowingly" (key word here) and the cost to taxpayers for this trial, is this really a matter that the Federal government should prioritize? I mean come on don't these guys in Washington have something better to do with our money? - Like finding Osama bin Laden? (And how many years and what cost have we been looking for this guy - incompetence in government)
It's like Barry Bonds is on the Feds top 10 hit list and I think there are many more true criminals that the Feds should be pursuing. I guess somebody has to justify their paycheck.
But then seeing how our Federal response team (Dept. of Homeland Security, who are supposedly in charge of protecting us from terrorist - God help us if they invade the Bay Area!) - the US Coast Guard has completely dropped the ball on this whole shipwreck that has devastated the Bay and its wildlife, it does not surprise me that the incompetence in our Federal government system would single out one person (who is really not that important to the operation of this county) to crucify over something of really little importance as a whole. They're going after him like he's part of the Columbian drug cartel.
The federal government ought to be focusing its efforts not on one baseball figure, but how it is going to restore our beautiful Bay to its pristine state, and hold those criminally accountable for this travesty. Now that's important, and a justifiable taxpayer expense
When you compare these two situations alone, pursuing Barry Bonds seems rather obtuse.
how can he be indicted for perjury about taking steriods, if he's never had a positive steriod test?
that's like being found guilty before the crime is commited!
A new low has been reached in America. The coward president and his administration can torture, kill, and do more lying in courts than any group of nutcases this country has ever seen. But the idiot at the top today said "it's a sad day for baseball". What a waste. A dumb weight lifting jock who swats baseballs for a living is more important to bring down than the monsters running this country who have lied over and over day after day.
It's a sad day all right. Sad for every American who has endured the unraveling of our country from the thieves and war mongrels that stole it away and are killing our sons and daughters, along with thousands of innocent civilians.
Barry Bonds does steroids to enhance his career and lies about it and everyone is all over him. What about a Mayor who lies and cheats and runs out on his city to visit another ocean while his city, ocean and environment is in danger. Maybe he should dump the viagra.
I find this absolutely ridiculous. Why wait four years to indict Bonds….especially when the authorities have had this “so called proof” since 2004? Are they trying to make a statement? Obviously so, however; it’s not working for me. An opinion is not solid proof to say one is lying…he never admitted taking steroids; he stated he didn’t know what exactly was given to him. That’s NOT lying! He’s stating what he believes! Oh, and we can’t forget the fact that his tests were not labeled (Hello! Where is the proof!?) I for one and very upset that my tax dollars are going to this absurd case, aren’t there more important things going on; and for that matter, more important things that the courts should be focusing their attention on!? This is a waste of time-and an extremely poor decision to waste tax-payers dollars to “make a statement.” On a side note: This morning’s news broadcast showed one woman giving her opinion on the case and she stated that Bonds was a “drug addict and he deserves this.” My question to this lady is, “Have you not looked down the street lately?” Because whenever I’m in San Francisco I see REAL drug-addicts that the cops just pass on by like its routine to see them. THOSE are the people that we should be concerned about; NOT Bonds who cares about the community, is communicative with fans, and gives to charities (and by the way, is NOT a drug-addict; how arrogant to say that!). This ludicrous case is a WASTE OF TIME AND MONEY!!!
Lets worry about the homeless people! Bringing our troups back! The aids problem!Children being abused! Another waste of taxpayers money thats what it is.
Barry,
There is life after Baseball. This to shall blow over. Look at Martha Stewart . Her show is doing better than ever. Best wishes to Barry for all you have done for the community..Hats off
People, we live in a country of laws.
Lying to the Grand Jury or in court is against the law, whether you are a Barry Bonds or Bill Clinton or just some Joe Blow on the street.
Clinton was impeached by the House for committing Perjury...and he fell a few votes short in the senate of being thrown out of office.
I am a Giants fan, but Barry should go down hard if he lied.
I am a Democrat, and I think Clinton should have been kick out of office at least for committing Perjury.
It does NOT matter what the reason was, for steroids or for sex, or for Murder.
Perjury is perjury....and against the law.
Anybody with 1/2 a brain knows he took steroids....but it's his lying about it is what will sink him...NOT the taking of the Roids.
At the end of the day, it is just Karma catching back up to him.
I have my own worries in life. Who really cares? I have never looked up to him, my kids don't care and certainly the majority of America doesn't care what happens to him
It's about time!!!
Since the latest reincarnation of the Drug War;( remember George Bush forty-one holding up the baggie of crack cocaine, and lying to the American people about drugs being sold in Layfette Park across the street from the White House back in 1989?) Americans have had to accept lying about their personal drug habits in order to hold a job,go to school, rent and apartment, own a car, etc, etc. Barry not doing something that 15 million cannabis users do as a way of life. Our so called democracy, can't resolve the drug war with out crimminalizing tens of millions of citizens, even when cannabis is safer than booze, so the answer is to lie, to keep living in the closet. Go on and keep lying Barry, you've go plenty of company in this great democracy of ours.
I feel that the organizations that support MLB want these players to put on a good show no matter the cost to the athletes. The MLB owners and coaches and advertisers have known about steroid use all along. They didn't care about it until questions were raised about the usage. They are doing it football and have been for years. Watch that movie called North Dallas Forty with Nick Nolte.
I wish they would stop acting shocked and surprised. They should indict all the sport franchise owners and all the money men behind the scenes. I feel that the athletes are actually the victims of all these greedy mucky mucks. I know this sounds like alot of inarticulate dribble, but, like they say, "follow the money"
There is arrogance and then there is Bonds, he's the king of arrogance.
That liar ( Bonds ) deserves what he is going through.
Yes, we should spend taxpayers money convicting him, Yes, we should make an example out of him.
Do you think convicting some no-name person for perjury will get any kind of message out ?
Think about it.
Again, if Bobby The Cheat Bonds weren't so arrogant, he would not be facing this indictment.
I hope he pays the price for lying to the grand jury, that would show that NOBODY is above the law, not even needle-pumping cheaters.
Flabbergasted. How many more millions of tax payers dollars is the court about to spend
feeding the legal ‘gravy train’ while adding no real value to society. When are the court’s and the media going to understand we want them to work on real, everyday issues that matter to people such as our schools, health care reform or better still, the environment.
Once the peninsula is flooded as a result of global warming, no one will care what Barry Bonds did or didn’t do.
Again, I am far from being an avid sports fan, but come on. Indicting a person three-plus years after the fact? That sounds as if the government/courts deliberately waited until Bonds passed Aarons' record so the indictment would carry a bigger impact and punch. If Barry goes down, there should be dozens more that should go with him. If they wanted to indict him (or anyone for that matter), they should do it when it was 'allegedly' done, not three years after the fact. That is just my opinion, though.
to teh blog adm.
Why did you take my comment off ?
I did not use any swear words or anything like that. ?
You just didn't like me criticizing Bonds ? I put a lot of thought into it.
I see what side you are on.
Okay when is the federal going to give up. We are first wasting money on war with the hype that " there were terrorist", when we have the biggest terrorist and scamist in the country, BUSH and his whole entourage!!! Now this thing with Barry Bonds. I think they are targeting him for the simple fact that he speaks his true mind and he isnt apart of the "brown nose" sport celebrity group. Not alot of people else can accept that and want vengence...hmmm is that it. Go after the bigger crooks and thats in the White house.

There are some comments here about baseball is just a past time, baseball and this investigation shouldn't be taking up tax dollars, yada, yada. Well, the fact is that these past timers make ALOT of money at your expense. Everytime you buy a ticket to see a game, you fill their pockets. I love the game of baseball and the idea of watching good athletes competing. But when you know that they use drugs to get an edge, not so interesting. First, these "athletes" should care more about their bodies and their abilities and not want to abuse their body with drugs. But clearly, it is about something else. Yeah, SF made more money for the games, again...more money in Bonds pocket. If he was "cheating" than who is cheated...
OK, let’s see last time I checked MLB is a for profit Business. Sur taking steroids is not the best thing for a person to do BUT, we as a viewing public pay lots of money to see stars like Bonds and WWE entertainers give us the thrills and best SHOW for our MONEY. Big Brother Get out of our Business! Look out before you know it they'll be sticking their noses in your business.
Now that he will no longer bring in the big bucks for the owners and he was broken the record here we go again.
And as history repeats itself. Another brother "Guilty until proven innocent"
I have never posted a blog before, and I am not even a Barry Bonds fan, but tonight when I saw the KRON newscast compare Barry Bonds with OJ Simpson, as Bay Area "criminals", I felt strongly enough to make this comment.
Is possibly taking steroids really in the same arena as double homicide and/or armed robbery??
I am really disappointed that KRON would stoop so low!!
WOW..
i think it's the media's excuse for doing a bad job covering other areas. OF IMPORTANCE.. why does this matter!?!? FRONT PAGE OF THE NEW YORK TIMES, USA TODAY ETC.
the world is very volitile right now. Barry Bonds is just something to "spark conversation" why does it matter? it doesn't PLEASE PLEASE report on something that effects THE WORLD!!!
No matter what they say....
how many baseball players took steroids and never hit a home run...
It isn't about roids...It takes a lot of talent to hit a ball for a homer 756+ times
Barry Bonds is a schmuck, no doubt. He has no appreciation for his fans or teamates. However, Bonds is only half the problem. It is clear that 'roids aren't the issue, (which says something about our standards), the real issue is his truthfulness. He is a liar and interested only with himself. People don't blink an eye when someone uses steroids. It's almost expected, (a sad attribute in and of itself). Watching all these people get so excited while he was breaking these records, just goes to show where our morals and ethics lie. He didn't get all those home runs because he's a "great athlete", he hit them because he was "juicin'". I don't want to hear word-one about kids that immitate the actions he took to "win" and get to the top. And when these same kids drop dead of heart attacks, the first thing the parents will do, is blame the athletes. While the athletes do hold a very high responsibility to act as role-models (and fail miserably), the parents should be indicted right along side of Bonds for creating a sense of realism that isn't there. Shame on them. Barry's achievments are as realistic as those of Sponge Bob or Spider Man. It's make believe. They're not based on talent. Just an illusions, but if you stupid enough to believe otherwise, then you deserve what you get.
P.S. Why do we (as a society), pay our teachers, cops, firefighters and other rescue personel so little compared to the athletes? Where are our priorties?
All this supposed jail time for Bonds when he may be found guilty, yet we have a myriad of criminals running free on the streets...our money would be put to better use putting away the "bad" people.
You do the crime... you pay the time. Children these days need good positive role models - NOT role models rolling in scandal, lies, and illegal drug use just for the sake of making history and getting their name in a hall of fame. If found guilty, "BB" should definitely be stripped of his homerun record and banned from the hall of fame. The homerun record should be returned to an honest athlete. I pray "BB" is telling the truth, but I also pray for justice if he lied. I also hope he's treated like any average joe would be treated. Justice should be color blind as well as blind to fame and fortune. Good or bad... let's pray for justice.
They're going to ruin that man's life and take his money. It's such a nasty thing singling him out when there are lots of others who used steroids. No one knows for sure if steroids actually work in game performance. It's all a witch hunt and very, very shameful to do to this great man.
First and foremost, I am not a Bonds fan by any means. However, there are more important things going on in this world than the question of whither Bonds took roids or not. Regardless, the man is talented and highly skilled. I love everyone who sits around and bashes this mans ability to play the game of baseball. If you all only had a clue of how hard it is to make contact with the ball you may stand in different shoes and stop sitting on the fence complaining about this. Additionally, MLB should be ashamed! I read someones comment about how MLB used Bonds to pack seats and make $$. This is true; he was used like a rag doll and now is being dumped to the side. Another sad pointer, If Bonds is indeed not guilty it will not matter. His name has already been ruined and that is completely sad/unfair.
Spend our tax dollars and energy on something worth while instead of being worried Bonds.
Barry Bonds. Guilty? Clearly this is for the courts to determine. If so, then punish him to the full extent of the law. If not, it is a shameful way, indeed, to enter into such a historic station in life.
Personally, I've never liked him. His demeanor is careless and boastful. He is negligent of his duties toward his fans. By duties, I mean to say, what every other average jane/joe is bound to obide by: Be good to others, set a great example, be ethical in your behaviors. I've never seen any such qualities in him.
He's evasive, self-righteous and in the end, not worth our time.
Go A's!!
Barry Bonds is just another selfish arrogant superstar athlete who appears to think he's above any law & invinsible.. Granted he is very talented however I feel he's a wasted talent. Maybe he can start humbling himself by giving back to the community. Thats a start. How many donations has he made through out his career to non profit organizations beside Balco ? How many kids ( besides his own ) has he IMPACTED IN A POSITIVE WAY.There's one man that Barry needs to answer to and that's the man above.Sorry Barry this time You're Out !
BB wont spend a minute in jail, period. This is just a last resort of inept government trying to save face by going after a big name. I have no doubt he roided, I have no doubt he knew about it, but PROVING that he knew about it is not going to happen. Maybe the final total of this debacle will hit 20 million? As a combat veteran, Im sure there might be a VA or two that may need some fixing up? But hey, a soldiers' legs being blown off and having to wait years for medical approval isnt a good lead story.
Bottom line is.....YOU PLAY, YOU PAY! He had to know that one day this would all come out. I do not think he should be allowed into the Hall of Fame. Look at Pete Rose, I feel he DOES deserve to be there. He bet on a game, big deal. He did not take performance enhancing drugs to get where he got. Yet, he is still being denied access to the Hall. I think it would be a great disjustice to the sports fans and players to just let him "walk." Bye Bye Barry!
It all comes down to lying! If it were the "average Joe", they would be in jail. More of our tax dollars circling the drain!
Don't we have enough problems in the Bat area without pinging on Barry??
What about the jerks out there with guns??
Shouldn't the courts be more concerned with our safety than harrassing Barry?
what the hell is wrong with this picture??
this is really just malicious persecution by the government to justify the millions of tax payer dollars spent... AS AN EXAMPLE I WILL USE BILL CLINTON a sitting president who clearly committed the same offences and was not persecuted HOW DOES IT FEEL UNITED STATES TAX PAYER to take it up the bu# again. No sport is immune to dope... we cant even participate in the Olympics without a dirty test popping up. Why doesn't the government prosecute ILLEGLE IMMIGRATION with the same ferocity. The government prays not to have people with a brain on the jury in america the people should expect the law to be applyed equilly
Why do you keep saying that Barry is unpopular? That is not my perception. This man is an incredible athelete. If the goal is to rid baseball of illicit steroid use, then let's implement regular drug testing for all atheletes. This is a witch hunt.
Only Person who abuse drugs stands for him. Sorry to say that.. i really don't like cheating.. He is cheater to sport fans . Barry Bond should stay together with O.J Simpson,
Perfect roommate,couple..
BARRY CLAIMS HE WAS NOT AWARE HE WAS TAKING THE DRUG? THEN WHY DIDNT HE SUE THE PERSON WHO INDUCED HIM WITH DRUG THAT COULD QUITE POSSIBLY RUIN HIS BASEBALL CAREER?
NO PRO BALL PLAYER WOULD TAKE A SUBSTANCE WITHOUT KNOWING WHAT IT IS. HE IS A LIAR. THATS RIGHT A LIAR!
I KNOW IT / GOD KNOWS IT N YELLOW DOG KNOWS IT!
HE LIKE MANY OTHER CELEBS WILL BE EX SONEROATED AND THE JUSTICE SYSTEM WILL LOOK STUPID AND WASTE TAXPAYERS DOLLARS TAKING HIM TO COURT.
CELEBS GET AWAY WITH MURDER, DRUGS, CHILD MOLESTATION, AND ANY OTHER CRIME THEIR HIGH PRICE ATTORNEY CAN GET THEM OFF ON.
THERE IS JUST NO INTEGRITY IN SOME PRO BALL PLAYERS AND THEIR HIGH DOLLAR ATTORNEYS.
BARRY WHY DID YOU REMOVE YOUR CROSS FROM YOUR EAR?
YOUR HIGH PRICE ATTORNET MIGHT WHEN YOU FREEDOM.
BUT THE GREAT ALMIGHTY GOD KNOWS!
YOU NOUG, GOD NOUGS, AND THE PERSON THAT PUT IT IN YOUR SOUL NOUGS.
They couldn't prove Barry Bond was taken enhanced drugs so they had to accuse him of lying. Just to make him look bad. It's all a bunch of BS! It's all about jealousy because he broke home run records one after another. The Giants Franchise sure didn't complaint when fan came and paid big bucks to watch him play. I know we won't be going as much to watch the SF Giants play or maybe none. He's going to PREVAIL! I hope the A's will sign him on and we will definitely be there to support him again.
Pride goeth before the fall, or something like that
WHAT COULD HE BE THINKING ABOUT BY CLAIMING HE DID NOT DO IT NOW? TOO MANY PEOPLE HAVE SEEN THE NEWS FOR MONTHS AND THIS WOULD JUST END HIM WITH MOST PEOPLE IF HE CLAIMS WRONG DOING AND WE FIND OUT HE IS GULITY.

FREE BARRY!!
Barry Bonds, along with the Mitchell Report, all just sadly confirms the farce that is called professional sports. That fans are accepting of these phonies makes the story of the Emperor's New Clothes all the more real. These players (men and women) should be awarded for Ego and Greed and Lying. These are the skills they truly excell in.
Impeach Bonds and any other sports athletes who use steroids and drugs, to help them beat records and glorify themselves for high achievements and huge bucks etc..
What Does team owners care about?
Big money or Sports for the sake of sports and fans !!
